UNA-Houston members and friends gathered at the City Hall downtown Houston to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8. This day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

The theme for International Women's Day 2017 is "Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030".

The UNA-Houston diligently works to support the United Nations programs and mission, and is now focused on promoting the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , such as women's empowerment, education, poverty reduction and healthcare.

We congratulate Dr. Noel Bezette-Flores and the International Women's Day team for the success of this historic press conference.  A special thank you to Mayor Sylvester Turner, and Mayor Pro Tem, Councilwoman Ellen Cohen for your support and recognition of the humanitarian work of  UNA-USA in Houston and beyond.
